Interior/Exterior How do you install a lower grille from outmotoring.
How do you install a lower grille from outmotoring.
Purchase a hood scoop, upper and lower grille set from outmotoring. Got the scoop and the upper grille installed but anyone knows how to install the lower grille that connects to the bumper? Do I need to remove the bumper or can I just take the chrome strip/molding off.
Our help is greatly appreciated. Aloha, Rod

it depends
they sell two
did you buy the AERO kit or the JCW kit?
The AERO requires a good bit of work to fit the lower piece while the other requires some but much less.
I have the instruction for the AERO DIY saved away. If you want them, PM me a e-mail I can send an attachment to. It is a pdf. The same instructions are on NAM someplace . . .
From the outmotoring site:
For years the only grill on the market for the Gen1 worth considering was the factory Aero grill from the Aero body kit. While it is still a great option, the lower grill is a total pain to install. It remains one of our best selling products but each and every one of those lower grills was painstakingly modified to fit which is a bit of task and some people are just not interested or capable which is why this is great grill to consider if you want to ditch your standard Gen 1 Cooper or Cooper S grills.
This is a great option for those that want a simple install and also want a slightly more modern look. The pattern on this grill is very similar to the elongated mesh pattern on the Gen2 JCW grill which is a nice look.
This grill set does NOT require the extensive modification to the lower grill and is pretty simple to install. The finish is a gloss black and the material is a rigid injection molded plastic.

instructions on the way
read the entire thing b4 you start ... there are supplemental comments at the end
a Dremel is a BIG help when doing the cut down of the new lower piece and when cutting the new/expanded mounting slots. But work SLOW with a Dremel as it is easy to generate too much heat and melt the plastic rather than cut it.
