D Stock Avons, Hoosiers or the V710 ?

Avons, Hoosiers or the V710 ?
Are the Avon's legal yet?
Has anybody actually tried the Avons? The tire information says they have a rounded edge for camber chalanged cars (stock).
The S04's will cord in front if the pressures aren't high enough (45-50 psi ?). I guess from what I have read the S04's have less rubber on the edges compared to the S03's.
Contingency money aside, which 16" tire would be a better choice from a durability standpoint for stock class. Avons, Hoosiers or the V710 if it comes out later this year.
I wrote to Kuhmo and asked:

When do you plan to introduce the V710 in a 205 - 225 / 16 size range. What aspect ratio will it be? Hopefully it will be a 40 - 45 series.
As of right now, I show nothing of that size coming in. It like it will be a few more months before they become available. Thank you for your intrest in KUMHO.

If you're not looking for contingency, run the Avon, it's practically the same tire, a split between the A and R Hoosier in life, but is $20 less.
If we ever get a good size in the V710, that will be tempting as well, especially since it's even cheaper.
But, if you're looking at contingency, you're going to be stuck with NON-friendly-toward-camber-challenged-car Hoosier S04's.

OK, I'm wanting to go faster. I've been running Azenis this season as a novice and I'm getting quick enough that I'm within a second or two of the fast guys with R compounds. I'm hooked now and need to spend money I guess 
. Next season I will be in the following situation:
1. Running 12 to 14 Regional & Divisional events.
2. I am planning a co-driver so we will have maybe 120 runs?
3. Most events will be on asphalt with maybe 4 events on concrete (Peru, Toledo, etc..)
4. Totally G-stock (maybe D-stock?) MCS with stock shocks and zero toe as I drive this car daily.
5. I will remount tires filpped if I can stretch my racing funds.
6. I generally don't overdrive but my co-driver is a novice and probably will.
Based upon the above,
1. What tire? (assume Avon and V710 make a size for us for 2005)
2. Who drives first?
PS. Good luck to those MINI drivers in Topeka!

Do you want your tires warm or cold for your runs.......
As a rule of thumb:
Usually when I co-drive peoples cars they have me warm up the tires....(a.k.a have the first run)
so whatever is your pleasing.

I heard a rumor of a 215/40 or 45R16 in the V710 next year. If that's the case, I'd run that for sure.
The Hoosier is slightly faster than the Avon, but the V710 is supposed to be (confirmed in larger sizes) faster than the Hoosier.
Seeing as how the V710 will probably be the cheapest AND the fastest, I think it's an easy choice.
If neither the Avon or Kumho come out with a good size, then your best bet is the 205/45R16 R3S04 Hoosier, unfortunately.

After consulting with folks over here, we brought it down to these choices:
The MINI is well known for being very hard on front tires. It was decided that unless you’re looking for those last few tenths as a top level driver, the harder road race Hoosiers or the Avons are a better choice than the Autocross compound Hoosiers. There is also a size for the old Kumho Ecsta V700. There may be a new size from Kumho in the 710 for ‘05.
So right now, here are the options:
205/45R16 Kumho Ecsta V700 - these should be shaved (available now, but not as fast as the others)
205/45R16 Hoosier R3S04 – road race compound
225/40R16 Avon Tech R (not available yet, should be available this spring)
215/45R16 Kumho V710 (should be available spring ‘05)
The last two tires are rumored sizes only. I have no hard confirmation on those. As a general rule, the Avon and the V710 have great forward grip. Good for cars with no LSD.

710 update from the Kumho website, probably old news to a lot of you. It is too bad they are holding out till April for the 16's. It sounds like they won't be here in time to make the first two pro solo's or national tours here in Ca. I guess it is time to buy a different tire.
