Mini question

Got my r53 2003 mini 84k miles and I bought it with a air intake and a 15%ALTA supercharger pulley. My brother also has a mini (stock motor) and when he was getting he's sway bar put on the guy said intakes and and some other mods can make the mini motor go to waste. I just wanna no if I should search for a stock one and put it on because I defiantly am keeping the pulley just don't no what to do.

You will be fine. I've had my Alta CAI on my MINI for 45,000 miles and no problems. I run CAIs on all of my vehicles except my Mercedes. I just put a 17% pulley on and no problems. Reset your ECU, make sure the filter is cleaned and re oiled and enjoy the ride.

Key is the CAI must be installed so dirty air does not leak in...so attention to detail...some folks used the alta soft silicone intake tube...and it needs to be trimmed when installed...some folks would just slip them on...and it would (unbeknownst to the owner) slip off..letting dirty unfiltered air in...
Oiled Gauze filters also are over-oiled and cleaned too often by most...the extra oil can get sucked in...cover the sensors, and destroy them, causing running issues....
As for a pulley...I ran a pulley for 60,000+ miles, along with a tune, and bigger injectors, and a CAI, ZERO issues before selling my car...had 200+ hp to the WHEELS...a BIG upgrade from the 170 or so to the CRANK from the factory for a 2005....
Did I beat on my car?..NO. Did I DRIVE it and have FUN? YES!
If you WAIL on your car, and ABUSE it..IT WILL FAIL...and a more HP will just accelerate the failure of ANY car...
Remember...moist cars are only using about 40% of their rated HP most of the time....with seconds of full output per HOUR....so adding a BIT more HP that you use for a few seconds per hour (unless you drive it like a race car all day) does not make a difference....
Does it reduce margins...push limits, or make parts that are already borderline FAIL? YES, but they would have anyway!!
Do make sure your car is running 100% BEFORE modding!! if it has any odd things happening..hesitations, knocks, pings or or odd sounds....get if fixed FIRST.

I've ran a CAI since 02, well over 100,000 miles, plus a 19% pulley. No problems. I have never heard of any CAI hurting a first gen motor. Don't believe this bad info. Motor on.

I have a cold air intake, cold plugs, jaw exhaust and a 15% pulley. Currently have 230k miles. It is all about maintenance. If you listen to your car and change oil, flush coolant , maintain supercharger you will get high mileage too. Many people abuse their cars. And when they go faster abuse them more. So in that sense the car will not last as long. But the mods will not break the car. The engine is a prety reliable platform.
