JCW GarageInterested in John Cooper Works (JCW) parts for your 2nd Generation MINI? This is where JCW upgrades and accessories for the MINI Clubman (R55), Cooper and Cooper S (R56), and Cabrio (R57) MINIs are discussed.
You shouldn't have any trouble running as usual here in Tucson. I've had no heat issues running my 2012 JCW Convertible here. Malibujoey are you living in Tucson or just visiting? We have an awesome MINI club here in Tucson. We are having a get together at the MINI dealer (located at 22nd St and Swan Rd) on Saturday May 2nd from 9:00-10:30 AM. Free donuts and coffee and talking about MINI's.
Mine's a daily driver (OK, a "sleeper"), winter / summer in the Reno / Carson City area. Only hot weather problems I have is in traffic --- idling with no air movement across the radiator. Cools right down when traffic clears and car starts moving again.
Does your '11 JCW have the "added cooling" obtained when A/C is switched to "MAX"? Something about adding a "coolant reservoir" to help the engine. Same effect when putting the "pedal-to-the-metal". Two separate ways to cool my '07 R56S in extreme heat.
BEEN DRIVING like 70-80 mph in 80, 90 + heat. Trying to leave at midnight when no so hot.
ANYONE have concerns or tips about driving Mini turbos in heat for long periods? Got new rad and cond.
Thanks!
I live in Las Vegas where it goes up to 115 during summer and experienced a JCW is not a car for desert driving above 90 even when new. The overall engine cooling is not very good and it already runs very hot as designed. I am not surprised of water pump and thermostat issues on the N14-18 engines.
By comparison, I have a Fiat 500 that is far better for the high temperature desert climate no matter I drive in the 80-90 mph during the worst of summer time.
