R56 2012 JCW hood scoop stolen - Miami, FL
2012 JCW hood scoop stolen - Miami, FL
Hi guys -
Yesterday while my mini was parked outside of a grocery store, someone decided to take the hood scoop off of my JCW. I was really upset given the fact that out of the previous 13 sports cars that I have owned, I have never gotten anything stolen.
What really baffles me is that when I looked at my hood, I was under the impression that there is a screw that comes from underneath the hood that holds the scoop in place aside from the clips, can someone confirm that?
I looked around and was able to find a used painted one on ebay shipped for $155. If someone could please confirm how the piece is secured aside from the clips I would appreciate it.
Also it looks like the piece that I purchased doesnt come with the honey comb. Since there will be more air able to enter now in the engine compartment, do some of you guys run without it, or do you still keep the honey comb on your replacement for safety measures?
Thanks in advance,

Unless it broke off. Sorry to hear someone took it. :(
Here is the Genuine MINI part and hardware. And the insert Grille . There are some aftermarket options and factory ones like chrome or carbon fiber. Which would not have to be painted.
