Definition of wash

Hi - I need opinions please.
I dropped my mini for its 40K checkup, and gave a few issues last Fri (7/16).
Car was to be ready by 1:30 pm. Ended up I neede a new windshield wiper motor, which had to be ordered. Then they scratched my car while installing. Needless to say I did not get the car back until yesterday (Thurs 7/23). The dealer called at 2pm saying oh you car is being washed.

When I got the car, it had not been washed, nor had the rotten windshield wipers been replaced. Also the paper work they gave was missing pages, so I do not know everything done to my car.

Even though it is minor, when I mentioned to my Mini advisor that the car had not been washed, he said - well water was run over it. Doesn't wash imply more than that. Plus my trust is so low now. If they cannot even tell the truth about washing the car, how can I trust?
Does wash mean no bug crap on the windshield?

Thanks for letting me blow off steam.

Smurf-- Demand better!

I wish you could experience my dealer. (Indianapolis) I am treated like royalty! Every detail is explained and they treat my car like their favorite.

Find a new dealer to care for your MINI, it'll be worth the extra drive!

Godspeed.

you got the hose and you let them give it to you.

Why bother with them if they dont provide the service. Dealerships overcharge you for work done vs what you can have done at a local trusted repair shop. You go to them for 2 reasons:

1. They know the car best and have the most experience.
2. They take car of you and treat you better than you would get at a local shop. They want your business.

I would call your MA and tell them that you were very dissatisified with the service dept and unless you are treated better you may as well goto a generic shop.

I would not have accepted half the paperwork. Do not let these guys walk all over you. You hired them - they are your employees. Does your boss let you do a half-butt job? I would bet not. Under promise and overdeliver.

Last time I was at the dealer, they brought the car out to me dirty, the manager of the dealership noticed me getting ready to go and stopped me. He made the service guy go back and wash my car.

This thread just shows that the CSI rating for the Mini dealers is correct... I have always thought that BMW dealers were the worst even after owning mine for many years they STILL treated me like garbage because I drove one of their old cars with 400K miles.

Smurf, let everyone know which dealer is providing this terrible support. Also, make sure to answer the phone when they call about the customer service survey and give them the low marks they deserve.

Thanks for the comments. Makes me feel like I am not asking for much.

Dealer - New Country in Hartford, CT which previously I was very happy with.
next closest dealer is over an hour away.
Anybody in Hartford/Middletown/Hamden area have a mechanic to recommend?

Ya, like I want those guys washing my car. Just tell them to hold the wash, you'll do yourself later. I didn't even know they were washing my car, until I noticed how crappy it looked every time I picked it up from the dealer.

It is kind of silly.

But heck if they can not communicate properly about washing the car or even replace the stupid windshield wipers, how do I know that they changed the oil, or fixed this part or that part correctly.
I feel no trust right now, and it annoys the heck out of me.

If you could see how most dealers wash cars, you'd make sure they never wash your's!

The problem I've had is dealers washing my cars even after I've specifically asked them not to. I've resorted to taping hand-scribbled "Please do not wash" signs all over the place including the steering wheel. They must think I'm nuts but so far it's been effective!

This must be a fairly common problem, though. One dealer I go to (not BMW/Mini) uses a "No Wash" hat that they put on top of the car during servicing...

sheesh, you should've seen the swirl marks my car came with when new...
Those porters have no idea how to wash a car.

took me a while to remove all the swirls.

Smurf - There are other dealers out there who would be more than happy to have your business. My dealer is 100 miles away but always goes out of its way to treat me right and exceed expectations. Check the dealer ratings on this site; they are pretty accurate and unforgiving where appropriate.

CooperBeagle - I must be thick-headed but I just realized that you're in the Indianapolis area. Were you at the MINICCI cook-out on the USGP weekend? if so, which one was you? I was there with my daughter and SG/MC.
