Shock Replacement insight needed ;)

Okay guys so... replacing my tires this week as I ran down the kuhmos pretty hard and far. I notice that the inside of the tires is wearing way more than the rest so I assume at 163k, my struts / shocks need replaced. They appear to be the stock ones actually. lol. So I'm looking to drop the car an inch or so all the way around and doe it to handle firm like a go kart but not grind the teeth out of my head. I have a friend that works for billstein so I might get a price from him but over a k$ isnt something I wanna spend since I have to do a clutch job soon as well. There koni / spring combos you like? Megan racing? would love everyone's opinion.

The tire wear is because you need an alignment. Save you money for the clutch job.
When you get around to the shocks I'd recommend H sport springs. They're pretty mild compared to other option but still give a big improvement in handling.
I'm using them with Koni adjustables so I can't recommend a Bilstein to match.

Your rear tires will wear more on the inner edge than the fronts because you're running about 3 times more negative camber in the rear, totally normal. Do more rotations, every 5,000 miles.

Your car probably does need an alignment though. We recommend them at least once a year. Have you already replaced the front control arm bushings with Powerflex Bushings? I would highly recommend doing them the same time you do the clutch if not done already.

At that mileage, yes, I would have recommended shocks about 80K miles ago, but many will run their shocks until they make noise or start to leak. Koni is starting up the discounted pricing again, the discount is quite surmountable so I would jump on the wagon sooner than later. STAY. AWAY. FROM. MEGAN. COILOVERS..

If you plan on lowering the car as well as replacing the shocks go with the Koni Yellows, they are a great riding shock, carry a phenomenal warranty, and perform great paired with a set of H-Sport or HR coils.

Feel free to give us a call for any questions or concerns. 586-792-6464

I'm personally running the yellows on H-Sport coils and love the ride/performance, we've sold multiple customers on the equivalent setup just by giving them some seat time.

As for clutch solutions, if you're mechanically savvy you could round up a friend or two and have everything knocked out in a weekend. If you're looking to replace it with a "cheaper cost" unit Valeo has a great setup for the price, and it will do everything you want/need it to as a daily driver to occasional toy.
