Challenge wheels brake dust cleaning.........
It is the first car in 40 years I have such a problem to keep the wheels clean. I never experienced so much brake dust on my other performance cars before my JCW.
It is always a long and fastidious work to have them just look fine. It looks like brake dust sticks and bake no matter I clean them every week.
Is there any miracle product that could dissolve the dust and make the job easier?
I tried about everything at the automotive parts store wit
I am now thinking about trying paint thinner (not lacquer thinner).
I have a Fiat 500 with sport wheels and they are very easy to take care.

The OEM brake pads are very dusty. After market pads are a little better. In the past I have used https://wheelwax.com which puts a nice coating on and then cleanup is easier.
I have also used http://www.detailersdomain.com/Sonax...0ml_p_324.html Sonax wheel cleaner. It is a scary on let it sit and rinse. Works great.

Here's a conversation I had with a detailer (long banned from this forum). Wax is a no-no. It gets hot from the brake disk, softens, then allows the dust to stick. I learned the hard way. This guy has the right idea and it works.
Re. your post on Moth's wheel wax question. Educational, Dave. What do you recommend for a sealant? I've waxed and cleaned on a regular basis and wondered why a trip around the block undid all my careful ministrations. I have a deep and enduring dislike for brake dust.
I also dislike brake dust on my silver wheels. I use BlackFire Wet Diamond on the inside barrels and the front faces. (Link below)
I do the whole set every year before I put them on for the season. (Spring/Summer) or (Fall/Winter)
Every few weeks when I wash the car and have the time I put another layer of RainX on them or just re apply the sealant since it so easy on and off.
I like BlackFire because you only need a little to apply a thin coat and a little goes a long way. I have done 5 cars and my wife's SUV and the bottle is still 90% full. It is so easy to remove it just wipes off and feels ultra slick but not oily. If you wax your car inside a garage you can apply it and remove it in 5 -10 min or leave it on overnight like I do. When I leave it on overnight it's because my arms are tired of cleaning. It still wipes off just as easy the next morning. I seal the whole car at once and then wipe it off that day or the next.
Try it on you car you will be surprised when you rinse off your car.

I use this to clean my wheels when I wash my car. I have the challenge wheels as well and this brush gets in all the tight spaces without scratching or marring the paint. This soap keeps the dust from getting on them

This sealant works really good and makes it easier the next time to clean your wheels. Chemical guys makes amazing products! They are also made in California which makes them even better!

Not all wheel dust is created equal. Sonax for example interacts with the metallic bits and then turns a different color. If you have Ceramic pads with zero metal I don't see that working as planned. Just a thought.
