Just ran across something interesting. Had my wife's 2011 Clubman S oil changed last friday. Then yesterday I had the oil changed in my 2013 JCW Hardtop. On both cars I limited the dealer to 4 quarts of oil, because I buy my own oil. 0-40 Euro blend Mobile 1. Got tired of them overfilling from the 5 qt. can. Now there doesn't seem to be a problem checking the oil and seeing it on the dipstick. Shows clear as can be about 1/8th down from the top of the red plastic part on the dipstick. Didn't even have to wipe it off first. Parked it hot and waited 15 minutes, and then checked it. Can it be that we have been having this dipstick reading problem because the oil was overfilled? Any comments out there??

 

I normally only fill with 4 quarts, but that normally gives me a level approximately halfway between the bulbs. I can't comment on the dipstick comments.
