Insurance Coverage

I have a question for all of you MINIacs out there - do you notify your insurance company when making modifications to your MINI? 2 reasons I ask:

1) in order to be reimbursed if something should be stolen or damaged (such as interior and exterior mods)

2) are there any concerns that the insurance company would not cover the car if it is modified, especially engine & suspension mods?

I haven't done any mods yet, but I wanted to check this out first since insurance co's can be jerks, and they can penalize you just for asking!

1) I use StateFarm and my agent asks that I keep the receipts in caseof reimbursement.

2) Insurance co's (at least for now) do not care.

Anyway, I am honest to my agent and therefore he helps me out as much
as he can .

Depends on the insurance company, and the country. From what I hear from car trade magazines, insurance companies in Cananda are cracking down on people who mod their cars.

I to am with State Farm, and just keep reciepts. The only thing I really informed them about is a set of three piece BBS RS (around 4 large) It did not change anything. But that is an agent and company I have been with for many years. I have always been happy with them.
