USB Symbol on Screen

Hi all. I'm new to MINI and this forum. Loving my Countryman so far.

One question I'm hoping someone here might know the answer to. It's not a problem, but more of a curiosity.

When I connect my iPhone, the USB symbol appears on the nav and audio screen. There is a number next to the USB symbol. Often it's -1, but sometimes it's -5 etc. (photo attached)

Any idea what that number represents? As I said, no big deal, but I can't figure out what it is or why it changes. Thank you.

The number increments each time a new track (song) is played.

OK, thank you! That makes sense. I listen to a lot of Pandora and Spotify, so I don't notice the number change. But yes, it changes with a track or podcast from my own collection. Thanks again.
