Storing MINI for a year.

So This fall I am going to be starting school as a freshmen in college. I will be away and no freshmen can have cars. I will be putting my insurance in "storage" (makes it like $4 a month). She's a manual, my parents both know how to drive manual but hate my short throw so won't move an inch. Any recommendations on storing her(left in driveway)?

Tires lose up to 1 psi of air pressure per month. I had a set of Mini wheels/tires stored off the car and they lost about 0.5 psi/month. I like the suggestion to put extra air in the tires to prevent flat spotting:

You're going to want to do something about the battery too. Probably disconnect it so it doesn't drain so fast, and maybe put it on a Battery Tender or float charger. It's not good for car batteries to be low/drained.

+1 on batter disconnect. Better than extra air in the tires, put it up on floor stands or blocks. Also, add Sta-Bil to the fuel tank and fill the tank to the top to preclude water condensation, otherwise what's in there will go sour and you run the risk of varnish buildup where it shouldn't be.

I'd give it a couple of good coats of wax and consider a car-cover since it'll be in the driveway.

Fresh oil change right before you park it...
Fill the tank, treat the fuel...
Drop a few mothballs (as a rodent preventive) under the car, around the airbox, and around the cabin air intakes...then add a few sealed packets of rat killer...seriously...a squeril or mouse can cause THOUSANDS of dollars of dammage....bigger issue than most mechanical things with stored cars...
Fresh wax might be good...car cover, iffy on...if it gets loose...can get dirt under it...wind blows...scratches...water can collect...so iffy on that...
Battery tender, huge plus...no worries about the antitheft system loosing the memory and leaving you to tow the car to a dealer....
Might be tempted to flush the brakes to prevent the seals from getting gummy....especially in a wet area...
Then use a good RV type tire protect any to stop UV issues...

+1

Especially the oil. Change it before you park it. Change it again when you drive it. Fill the tank full, less chance of condensation forming, and use fuel stabilizer. Put on a coat of wax, don't buff it off. Cover the wheels to keep the brakes from rusting, and the tires from getting UV damage, black garbage bags will work. Take the weight off the tires so they don't flat spot if they deflate. Make sure you leave the e-brake off so if it seizes up, you can still drive it. Crack the windows on both sides for air flow, or put a can of desiccant inside to absorb moisture. If you put a car cover on it, put a tarp over the car cover to keep it drier. Tie it down good, so the wind doesn't blow it around and scratch the paint. If you don't use a car cover, park it somewhere shady (preferably away from trees) or cover the seats, dash and steering wheel with towels or cheap bed sheets and close the sunroof sunshades. Leave the battery connected and put a good battery tender on it. If you live somewhere that gets cold, make sure you test the coolant to make sure it doesn't freeze, and adjust it accordingly.

Over inflate the tires for sure. You can also park on a couple pieces of cardboard to help minimize flat spots.

Also get a battery tender to maintain the battery, the $26 cheapo one they sell works great as I have a couple I use.

Full tank of gas, with some seafoam treatment.

Sitting out with all that stuff done to it tells passers by that nobody is using it. To prevent possible theft, putting it up on blocks and storing the wheels elsewhere might be a good idea. Serve two purposes at once.
+1 on everything posted.
Study hard and keep your nose clean away on campus. BTW, where are you going?
