Gas Mileage Tanking! 12.8 MPG

My Countryman ALL4 has around 1700 miles and after resetting the computer Im averaging 12.8 MPG in city driving!! Thats driving it normal and staying under 3-4000RPMs. My commute to work is less than 2 miles in city traffic so car doesnt warm completely up but still, this is rediculous!

Our Countryman gets about 15 around town, but just over 30 at interstate speeds through the mountains. You're not in Sport mode I take it? As you mentioned, your low MPG may be due to the motor not warming-up adequately during the commute. IMHO - Sounds like a spirited drive home the long way is in order for both you and your MINI. Heavy city traffic on a daily basis would kill my soul!

Same is happening with me, although mine has 50k km's on it.

Last gas tank, with 94 octane fuel, some moderate spirited driving, mostly city, i got 280 km's out of the tank, which is around 170 miles, for a full tank. Aprox. 14mpg.

Im starting to think our mini's really dont like the cold, as its normal to loose some efficiency when its -10c or more.

My wife's commute is about the same as your's, the car never warms up. She get about the 19 MPG. How cold is it where you are and how many traffic do you run into, that may have something to do with it as well. Do you always use the same gas station, try another one. I was going to say sometimes it takes a new car 7 or 8 thousand miles to get to its max. efficiency, but 12.8 MPG does not sound right, you might want to mention it to the dealer the next time you are there.

Winter gas and cold weather the blame. Did you do actual calculations for more accurate #s. Miles driven / G.
