2015 Mini John Cooper Works Hardtop Revealed Before Detroit Show
The hottest version of the new F56 Mini hatchback is here, and will make its official debut at the 2015 Detroit auto show in January. The 2015 Mini John Cooper Works Hardtop boasts more power than its predecessor and retains other tenets of the JCW package like an upgraded suspension and some extra visual bits inside and out.
We heard rumors about the John Cooper Works Hardtop’s new powertrain a few months back, and we now have confirmation that this hot hatch is powered by an uprated version of the Mini Cooper S ’ 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder. A total of 228 hp and 236 ft-lb of torque are on tap, and the JCW Mini can be equipped with either a six-speed manual or an six-speed automatic transmission. The 20 extra horses compared with the previous JCW Mini will make for a quicker 0-60 mph sprint of 5.9 seconds with the automatic or 6.1 seconds with the manual, according to Mini.

Chassis enhancements include a standard sports suspension with stiffer tuning front and rear, an optional dynamic damper control system, and a Brembo brake package replete with Mini-branded red calipers. Seventeen-inch wheels are standard, with two-tone, 18-inch alloys available as an option.
The look of the new JCW Mini doesn’t come as much of a surprise either, since one year ago Mini revealed a concept version of this car. Not much has changed since then, as the production John Cooper Works Mini has the same wheels and a similar body kit to that extroverted concept. Like all Minis, the JCW Hardtop will offer all sorts of customization accessories like the black hood stripes, mirror caps, and roof color of the pictured debut car. The body kit, which includes a different front fascia, some extra air inlets, and a rear diffuser and spoiler, are said to help cooling and aerodynamics at higher speeds.

On the inside, the 2015 Mini John Cooper Works Hardtop features sport seats trimmed in either cloth or leather. A JCW steering wheel is also standard, as are stainless steel pedals, JCW badges throughout, and plenty of piano black and red accent trim. A Cockpit Chrono package is also offered, adding three auxiliary gauges giving info on oil and turbo boost pressure along with a stopwatch chronometer.

Seats look nice but once again...that exterior....seen prior photos to it already, and it still isn't flattering.

 

I like it.

 

I'm sure it's a beast, I just can't give in to the new body style.
