Navigation & Audio Media Package vs Mini Connect Option
Media Package vs Mini Connect Option
Hi Members,
I am new to the mini world and am doing research on what I want in my 2015 2 dr hardtop but cannot seem to find a straight answer to my question. The lone Mini dealer in my area and the Mini folks at the toll free number were no help. So I come to you. I have an eye on buying the Media Package for the Mini. How does this differ from the Mini Connect option? When I "build" my Mini I do not see the option for the Mini Connect. Would the Media package allow me to scroll through my iPod and see the artist/song title on the Mini's screen? Is the Mini Connect primarily to receive web based content (FB, Pandora, etc)? Right now I do not plan on getting the Nav but I want to see the songs on the screen etc. Would Media Package allow me that? Any help on enlightening me is appreciated.

I think your question would be better suited for the 3rd Gen F56 forum...the new Hardtops use completely different tech then the 2nd Gen Countrymans or Pacemans.
If you're looking at infotainment options for the new Hardtops, you have three options:
- Standard or base radio: small, B&W display, will support Bluetooth for calls, but not Bluetooth audio.
- Visual Boost or Connected Display - the 6.5" color display: adds Bluetooth audio, built in owners manual, a couple extra speakers, available without nav
- Connected XL - the biggest screen at 8.8": I believe nav is required, supports split screen so you can have two panels at once, gives you built in 20GB hard drive for music storage
All three options will allow you USB access to your phone's or iPod's music. The Media Package will include the Visual Boost/Connected display.
