Error messages after a brake job

I've got a mystery. A few weeks ago my wife brought her 2009 Clubman S to the dealer replace the passenger-side rear light assembly and the third-brake light. While she was there, they told her that her brake rotors and pads were too thin and needed to be replaced. I do most of the maintenance on the car, so we declined to have them do it and I bought new rotors, pads and wear sensors. When my wife returned home the "brake" icon in the tachometer was lit, and Service icon (a Mini on a lift) was lit. I did the brake job, flushed the brake fluid, and all was well. Or so I thought. Even after clearing the codes twice, the "brake" and Service icons keep returning, and now I get an error code for the Disc Pad Wear indicator on the rear pad (see attached pic).

I can't figure how this error code could be associated with the dealer replacement of the two light assemblies. Is there some wiring that connects those lights and the brake wear sensor, which could have been disconnected during the service? The dealer claims it is all coincidence, but I'm not so sure.

The brake service icons have to be reset in the service counter module. I can't tell whether what you are using is resetting that or not, but there are plenty of threads with instructions.

Sorry, no suggestions regarding the error message you are seeing.

Thanks, I'm using the Autoenginuity software on a laptop, and it can clear the error codes. I thought it could clear the icons on the dash, but I'll have to confirm that.

The other possibility is that the brake wear sensor (simple wire enclosed in a plastic plug that fits into a brake pad) got worn through (remember the plugs that fits into front driver and rear passenger outboard pads!?).

If that's the case, you can either replace with a new sensor, or solder the loop closed and zip-tied the sensor wire to the strut tower.
