Mini Jcw Recaro Sport seats in R60

Has anyone installed the JCW Recaco Sport Seats in their Countryman?

I just looked on RealOEM and even in Europe, the JCW seats aren't listed as a retrofit - see attachment.

This may mean they don't fit (aren't R60 seats higher than other Mini seats, even if the tracks are the same?) or, as is the case with my Roadster, it may just mean that the car's ECU cannot be coded to cope with the JCW passenger seat not having an occupancy sensor.

In a previous R60 thread I saw the following post so I was wondering if that was in a Countryman.

I feel your pain. Not enough lower back and thigh support for me.

An expensive solution, I imported an JCW optional Recaro sportster from England and replaced my driver's seat. Wiring harness is plug and play, heaters and side airbags are functional. My best mod to date, very happy.

But look what these guys did with Cobra seats, so I guess its possible with Euro Recaros.

Thanks for the info, pics and link. As my Countryman is a JCW, I want to keep with the theme in the seats. Of course my seats (Frame) are very different from the R56 the JCW Recaro's were originally designed for, so I have to figure out sliders for both sides, seat position sensor for the driver side (avoid airbag warnings) and try and duplicate what others have done to transfer passenger sensor to the JCW sport seat (again airbag warning lights).

If anyone has any ideas, I would like to hear them. I want the assemblage of a plan to install them before I sink the $$$ into the project.

You guys carry the euro recaros? Any idea what would be involved in fitting these in the R60?

Yes, we carry the leather version and the alcantara version, see the links.

Yes, the seats have the side airbags.

I don't know what would be involved, using the cobra seats as a example, I guess it could be done. The pics of the leather seat show the seat rail. That would have to be the part that would have to be matched up to the R60 seats.

I am working with wedge seat brackets to see if they have a bracket that will fit the R60.

The JCW Recaros fit.

Source:www.mini2.info

This picture is from a guy in Germany. You'll need the seat runner (I hope it is the correct word in english ) of standard R56 seats.
Everything else (plugs, screws, ...) fits without modifications.

Like in an R56 the seat occupancy detector for front passenger's seat must be uncoded.

The JCW Recaros are legal in an R56 only, that's why they can't be found on realOEM for other model. But I've seen them installed in R55, R57, R58, R59 and R60 too.

Cheers from Austria

Thanks for the info

Looks awesome.

The seat rails or seat runners ? are not a separate part but are part of the sat from MINI as a part number. So you can get new and separate or find one at a junk yard, le me know. #1

Bumping an old thread but I want to clarify. I had the JCW Recaros in my R56. I just bought a JCW Countryman. It sounds like that with the seat, paired to the r56 sliderwill bolt up to the countryman?

Pic for attention: )

Yes, I still have them. Haven't had the heart to put them for sale. From what I have gathered, the plugs and connectors for the seat sensors, airbags, etc should all be the same. I guess the only question would be does the holes for the recaros seat brackets line up with the slider brackets.

I was just trying to avoid pulling the seats out and testing them if they weren't going to fit.

Thats the only way to know, most have guessed and speculated. Just make sure you disconnect the battery before you do the swap.

Yup. Maybe that will be my grand contribution to the NAM world.

The parts manager at the local dealer said the sliders are different part numbers but I'll just start with one seat and see how far I get.

Great contribution since some people have asked about it. I know if it works , it will be the best looking countryman interior.

I will post up either way! That way the thread will at least be updated for people asking the same question. Maybe I will try it tonight when I get off of work!

At lunch I was able to do a quick comparison between the two sliders. The actual sliders are different. In the r56 sliders, there are bolts that are near the actual runner that the seat will be attached to. In the countryman, the bolts are not there.

BUT! If the slider holes from the r56 line up with the mounting holes in the countryman (slider to the car, just for clarification), then you should be able to use the recaros with r56 sliders and bolt them into the countryman. I'll take some measurements tonight. If they do seem to line up, I'll just order a set of sliders for the r56 and hopefully install the seats that way.

Thanks for the double check, so its close.

The slides are part of the seat rail system themselves on the R56-R59. Unlike the Gen 1 MINIs.

I am trying to source a R56 seat bracket but did make an observation today. With the Recaros, it might make it extremely difficult getting in and out of the car. With the r56, the low spot on the seat where I would usually out my leg (pretty much where the bottom and back of the seat meet), was clear of the doorway. However, the countryman seats sit far back and you can even see in the picture above that the junction of the seat and that "low area" before the thigh bolster is completely blocked by the B pillar. Like I said, just an observation.

So I get my JCW CM 4 weeks, it's on boat now. This is very tempting, are the seats $2300 each or a set of two?
