Has anyone put in any true race seats in their MINI yet.

I have read the threads on the Euro Recaros and replacing the passanger mat weight sensor or an emulator to keep the light off and Passanger airbag on. Also know about attaching the drivers seat position sensor for the steering wheel airbag.

What I want to know is what about the side air bags on the seats if I put true FIA approved fixed back race seats. What else do I need to do to make it work with out any alarms?

The Euros Recaro's are nice and I have been tempted but I can get much better race seats for less money and they will look as good IMO and work much better.

The side air bags that are in the factory seats aren't particularly sophisticated units. It's super easy to fool the airbag system into thinking they're still there. All you need to do is put a resistor across the terminals in the plug for the side airbag. I believe it's 2.2 ohm. You should be able to confirm that number with some quick googling.

I have a Sparco Evo II on the drivers side with the factory passenger side. I couldn't come up with a good solution to the weight sensor on the passenger side so I just left the stock seat in.

 

Thanks do you know which plug and terminals for each of the side air bags? I can pull the weigh sensor for the passenger mat and there are emulators on ebay for 60-75 that are a plug n play for that.

I don't off the top of my head. Its pretty obvious once you turn the seat over and look at the plugs.

I don't know if those emulators work. If you do end up getting one definitely post up a review.
