Clean gunk off a wool mitt?
Clean gunk off a wool mitt?
I have a wool wash mitt. I like how it works, but earlier this summer a tar like substance got on it. That came from somewhere below the license plate. I don't know what it was. I have not used it since for fear of scratches.
Is there a way to clean one of these mitts or is it a case of replace rather than try to clean type of thing?

Nope, I'll never use another wool mit. Way too harsh.
I use a two bucket method, microfiber mitt, and Optimum No Rinse.
I use wool
you could snip out the bad section .... give it an ugly hair cut . . . if the area isn't too big
so far as cleaning ... I run mine thru the washer a couple of times a year ... with an extra clean rinse cycle .... you could try tar remover (goo-gone ... gas <I did not say that>) and if that works THEN run it thru the washer
OTOH they are not that expensive and if in doubt I'd toss and replace.
