R60 Shifter stuck when cold??
Shifter stuck when cold??
I have a manual 2011 ALL4S and I've been having trouble with it right when I start the car. The shifter doesn't want to move for several minutes. At first I just couldn't get it into reverse to back out of my garage. This past week I had it parked outside and it got relatively cold overnight, and it wouldn't budge at all for about 5 minutes after starting the car. If I parked in 1st it would do 1st and 2nd but not side to side at all. If I parked in neutral, it wouldn't move at all. Anyone had this issue? I had it into the dealer a few weeks ago, but of course they couldn't replicate the problem so they didn't do anything (except break my windshield!
).
I took a brief video of it to show them, but I'm hoping someone here has some insight for me!

there was a thread on this same issue last fall
i seem to remember something about a boot or seal on the end of the shifter cables under the bonnet failing/leaking and allowing water into the shifter cables that then froze ... a couple minutes of idling warmed the engine compartment enough to thaw the shifter cables
