Hello all! New mini owner here (at least I'm new to owning it).

I have an '04 S six speed and I'm working on installing an aftermarket radio with the Metra 70-9003 radio harness and an Axxess ASWC-1 control converter. The goons at Axxess (Metra) left out a wire on pin 9 that I need to hook up ASWC-1 to the car.. I can probably buy one, but I'm wondering if I can just snag the blue wire from the aftermarket harness and hook it up to that. Does that wire do anything on the mini? I mean... I know that it typically powers an antenna.. But I don't think it has a power antenna... Do I actually need that wire hooked up?

 

If you don't have a power antenna, you can use the blue wire for anything that you want to power. I have an aftermarket radio in another car, and use the blue wire to power my GPS. It should be hot only when the ignition / accessory is on, whether or not the radio is on.

 

Awesome! I just wanted to make sure because I didn't know why it would be included if it wasn't needed. I just read up a little bit and it turns out the older generations actually had a powered antenna and that's why it's there.
