US purchased Mini Maintenance not honored in Canada

Hello,
I purchased my Mini CM in the U.S. while living there. I had to move back to Canada, and decided to bring my CM with me. After paying all the applicable taxes and meeting the requirements for my American car to become Canadian, I find out that my maintenance 3/36000 is not valid in Canada. Has anyone had any success in getting reimbursed by MiniUSA if the maintenance was done in Canada? Thanks.

I have colleague in Canada, and they had the same issue when they bought a Toyota FJ Cruiser a few years ago (not a MINI) in the US and drove it back to Calgary. They wanted a car that, at the time, was not available in Canada yet. I recall they could drive it back in US to get warranty. But the Canadian warranty was not valid in US, and vice versa.

You mention the maintance 3yr/36,000 is not valid, what about about the more valuable the 4 yr 50,000 warranty?

I'd like to believe that the warranty will be honored in Canada as both MiniUSA and MiniCanada said it would be. Just hoping someone doesn't change their minds. Roadside assistance is valid in both countries.

Funny thing is...
When I lived in northern Michigan years ago, had a Hyundai.... And the closest dealer was in Sioix St-Marie on the US side...was just a trailer (a waiting room, and a counter)...they would take your paperwork , then drive your car to the dealers actual location on the Canadian side, do the work then drive back....lol.
Know there have been a few threads on us servicemen who took cars as euro delivery, then brought them back to the us...intermittent issues it seems with warranties not being "activated" or being in the system.....
My guess...you bought the car from MINI USA, a diffent corporate entinenty....so getting coverage in Canada will be a no go....maybe you can get your local dealer in Canada to cover it as goodwill...cause I bet a decent $$$ from the sales price went to pay into a warrenty fund....which the US mini-usa calcilulates differently and does account diffently than Canada. Good luck...bet since the cars are priced VERY differently in Canada vs the US, they will be resistant to doing this as it will be seen as encrouging "gray market" imports.

Yes, the Mini was purchased in the US. I spoke with 2 dealers in Ontario, and they will not honor the maintenance. Option of driving across the border is my only logical option. It's a big difference besides free in the US or $200+ in Canada. Ironically, if the Mini was purchased in Canada, I was told by Mini Canada that they would reimburse the amount paid for maintenance in the US. It's a shame that MiniUsa doesn't play the same.
