Hello. I have a 2011 manual MINI Cooper (non-S) with 33k miles.

For about a a month now I've had this issue where if I lay off the gas and my RPMs go down and I accelerate again, the engine seems to sputter. This usually happens when the RPMs go down to about 2000 and happens until I pick up enough speed to around 2500-3000 RPMs.

It's happened in second gear, third gear, and even fifth gear (occasionally). Sometimes even in neutral I can feel the engine sputtering. If I depress the clutch and re-engage sometimes it clears up. During this time, I don't think the RPMs change during the sputtering.

I believe I have half a year of warranty left from MINI. Is this something I should be worried about and take to the dealership? I've never had any codes or lights turn on and have not modified my car. It doesn't happen all the time, but at least once or twice every time I drive.

False air at the intake ? check the gaskets.
