I'm thinking of the ~50% or more likelihood of unexpected defects/wearout in the first 100k miles or so. Not by any means a gripe list, just a preparedness list

What I've actually experienced:
Thermostat housing
Oil supply feed to turbo
Chain and tensioner
rear brake pads (one could say this would be expected; for sure the fronts are)
Coolant seal on oil cooler.
Aux water pump.

most were covered under warrantee.

What I hear to expect:
water pump (I already replaced, but it wasn't leaking at 52k)
another chain tensioner
clutch (I really hope not)
coolant reservoir


what is missing/next??

 

Carbon cleaning and spark plugs are the only things that I've done that aren't on your list. On my car, the seal between the oil filter housing and block was leaking, not the seal on the oil cooler (but I replaced both).
