Need Advice: Service Engine Soon Light Weirdness

Weird thing happened. A few days ago, the Service Engine Soon yellow light went on. I drove the car a couple of times since then, and the light stayed on each time I started the car up.

This evening, ran out to the grocery store, and the light switched off within seconds of the engine turning over. After getting some dessert from the store, I hopped back in the car, turned the car on again and the Service Engine Light Soon light stayed off.

Oh, and the car is a 2006 MCS with 64,xxx miles

What gives? Should I be concerned? Has this happened to anyone else?

Very typical...
A fault happened.....
Then after it was no longer detected, the light went out after a set number of cycles....
I WOULD suggest you get the code read and write it down....so if it happens again, you can check to see if it is the same code.

Zippy is right. It could be a bunch of things that caused the initial fault which was transient. Then, after a few miles and cycles the light went off. But it would be good to know the code so you know what you are dealing with as it will probably come back again. <G>

Ok, thanks for the advice. I'll take it to auto zone
and use their free code reader.
