OZ Ultraleggera

Looking for Mini owners who have these wheels. It seems they can be fragile with several incidents of bending and cracking. I guy wants to sell me 3 and I need one but since I track I'm concerned. Any thoughts appreciated.

I have no history with them but Why does he only have three? That might answer your question...

How old are they? Wheels will eventually fatigue to the point where they need to be replaced. Especially if they're tracked hard and regularly. If you're just doing the occasional track day I wouldn't worry about it. If you're there every weekend and racing hard with NASA TT or something I would look at a new set and replace them every few years depending on the wheel you end up with.

One more time.

There are three things you can have in a wheel. Strong, Light, and Cheap. The bad part is you only get to choose two of the three.

You can have,
strong and cheap, (but they aren't light)
light and cheap, (but they aren't strong)
strong and light. (but they aren't cheap)...

The OZ's fit in the light and cheap...

If you track your car, buy some decent forged wheels. I can't tell you how many cheap wheels I've seen fail on tracks in 30 years. But it's a lot. Most times in the worst possible place... (downhill at Lime Rock, downhill at Road Atlanta.. nasty crashes...)

Safety is not something to cheap out on...

They are probably fine on a street car...
