I know there aren't too many Frozen Black / Black Knight MINIs out there, but I'd like to start this page to see the other ones and any mods.

I'll start with the one I just picked up

I saw one of these at the dealer and thought it looked great. Congrats! Is there any special maintenance required of this paint style?

 

nice... i thought this was a wrap. the flat black doesn't come up as a choice at miniusa, what gives ?

 

chini - There are some special products from BMW to keep the paint like new and to give it a good detailing but basically plain washing and drying does the trick. NO buffing or waxing because that can create a shine.

dpike - These were dealer order only as far as I know. Only 60 of them made. MINI didn't offer the ability to build them to spec, they just put them together fully loaded in a variety of packages.

 

Only 60 in the US. More overseas. Upkeep is supposed to be a *****, because cleaning can accidentally polish it.

I paid 3k under MSRP. They tend to be pretty loaded so not on the low end of the pricing scale.

 

Sweet!! I'd matt black vinyl the door handles, all chrome trim and scuttles....mean out that bad boy.....congrats!!

 

Very nice & cool, like they said before, just have to use Matte finish car cleaner and soap:

Like BMW Frozen Gray colors.

Here is the frozen paint guidelines from BMW.

 

I used to own a car with a factory matte paint and the upkeep is LESS than glossy paint and it doesn't get swirl marks. It's a win-win in my book and I wish more manufacturers would offer matte finishes. Check out Dr. Beasley's matte paint care line. Some really outstanding products.

Our Black Knight is in Alaska and have only tinted the windows and wrapped the entire front to protect against rock chips.

A 5,000 mile update. This finish is easy to care for, wash and dry. That's it and it looks like new.

I'd love to see some other pictures from Black Knight owners.
