R56 R56 Aero Kit in Development
It will be a full bolt on wing kit and also part of the full aero kit that will include a race front splitter like our R53 one. http://www.sneed4speed.com/mini-r53-...ront-splitter/
That wing looks so stupid. Full-on rice right there.
FWD car with big rear wing is a good way to get laughed at.

That is just it. You don't buy this kit for the looks you get it for the function. If they can find a way to support the down force on with that wing with the brackets this would work great!
I could care less what my car looks like when i'm passing people on the track.

Why do you need rear down-force on a FWD car though? I would think more Aero in front is what you really need.
You need aero on the front and back to provide equal downforce and best handling. The reason for rear downforce on a FWD is because they can still spin out at speed.
At speed the tires are not going spin on the ground they are going to slide sideways because the car wants to go tangent to the turn. By using air to push down on the front and rear of the car the lateral grip is increased and the car can turn at a higher G force load than without aero. If you only had front down force then the back tires would be lighter, not have as much lateral grip causing the tire slip and the car to spin.

Seeing that it looks more like a sushi table and less like a wing, I would love to hear how the folks building it plan to quantify and optimize its benefits?

We haven't tested the MINI with the wing yet but here's a video of our E36 kit in the wind tunnel. They both use the same wing element but the mounting distance behind the rear wheels is different so final downforce numbers at the tires will vary slightly but this will give you an idea.
The Sneed4Speed MINI Cooper wing is done and ready to ship! Fits R53 and R56 hardtops.

In reading some comments, it's so annoying to see so many nasty meaningless naysayers. Especially when it's fairly obvious those folks appear not to know crap. Now, my comment is at what speed and above is the wing effective and how much?

The other question is, this says R56 Aero kit, yet we see the wing on the R53! So does it work with both?
I see there is another thread talking about the R53 wing here:

The wing works on both cars, R53 and R56.
The wing starts really working above 40mph. Downforce increases as speed increases. We measured the downforce on our BMW E36, which uses the same wing but with different mounts at about 200lbs of downforce at 100mph. The MINI should see slightly higher numbers, around 225lbs at 100mph.
We have a splitter for the R53 http://www.sneed4speed.com/mini-r53-...ront-splitter/ and one for the R56 http://www.sneed4speed.com/mini-r56-...ront-splitter/
Retail price on the wing kit is 899.00 for both the R53 and R56 MINI
