New to Countryman! A few questions.

In about 3 weeks we'll take delivery on a 2015 cosmic blue all4 S.

Since we live in Wisconsin, I've decided that we'll need a set of snow tires/wheels. So my first question is, does anyone know the offset of the OEM 18 inch 5-star double spoke wheels? +50? There seems to be a slight change in the appearance of these wheels from 2014 to 2015. An insiders with 2015 offset knowledge? Any aftermarket wheel experience with a slightly different offset +spacers?

Next, we're definitely getting a roof box. I've always gone with Thule. What are the dimensions of the roof? I know...I could surreptitiously do the measurements in a Target parking lot or something, but I thought I'd ask. Alternatively, what size box do you have and would you have gone bigger/smaller?

Last, a question that has no correct answer. I'm interested to know, from all the experienced Countryman owners and enthusiasts, what's the modification or accessory or whatever that you would absolutely recommend to a new owner?

Thanks!

Oh and I enjoyed reading that entire "don't buy a Mini..." thread started by SS.

So...no one? Not a single countryman owner can even bother to take a moment and type a response?

I suspect there aren't many who have the info you are seeking on a 2015 rather than us just being too lazy to answer you... and there are numerous threads here on "absolutely recommended mods" that we dont really need another one.

I went with used OEM 17 wheels for winter. Look at the ads, a lot of people are offloading the "base" 17 wheels for not much because they are upgrading. And it cost a lot less for the tires at the 17 size too

As for a cargo box, I run the Inno Shadow 15, on the Mini roof bars (a lot cheaper than Thule bars). The box fits perfect to the roof of the CM, without obstructing the hatch opening. And since it's low profile, no need to worry when going into garages.

Thanks!

I agree, 17s are the way to go for a winter set. Still look stylish and a nice bit less expensive than 18s. I was toying with the idea of some basic BMW rims but then we get into the offset issue and needing spacers may obviate any prior savings.

An Inno box? I'll look into that. I confess, I'm not familiar with that brand.

If I had to wager, I'd say the 2015 redesigned 18"s are 18x7.5 et52, just like the previous years. Using the history of MINI wheel lineups as an indication, MINI likes to have different designs but keep the specs the same.
