2012 All4 Transfer Case Seals

Just replaced at 19K under warranty. Left and right were leaking. Saw a few posts from an on line search about this issue but did not see anything in a quick look on NAM. Seems very early for a seal like this to leak.

I had a couple leaky ones last time I took mine in. There's been a few others on the forum.

Yeah, doesn't seem to be a widespread issue, but like Chrunck said there has been a few reports here.

The transfer case on my jcw started to leak as early as 600 miles, had been re-sealed 2 times within the1500 miles, and the third time the replaced the entire transfer case, and no longer leaking now at 4500 miles. Maybe they had a bad batch of transfer case.

There have been sporadic reports of this (but seemingly never widespread) on the forum since the first all4's hit the market several years ago. Wonder what the story is. You almost never hear of this at all on other AWD/4WD vehicles until they have high mileage. And what's even more odd is that a significant amount of the time the dealers have immediately replaced the entire transfer case rather than just replaced the seals. Also several times other owners have reported what 3leafz said...dealer initially replaced the seals, but there was still a leak, and then the entire case was replaced. Strange.

I'll keep an eye on it and see if it starts to leak again.
