Im gonna change the axles myself. Do I have ro drain transmission oil?.

 

Draining the transmission oil is not a requirement but be prepared to catch a flood of it once you pull one of the half-shafts out. The oil seals around the output of the differential is all that's holding the oil in the tranny.

You may want to change out your oil seals as well since you have the shafts out. Also a good time to replace any or all of the front suspension parts that are likely worn as well.
