Call them they will email or send a return label so that you won't have to pay for return.

What's the difference between the Alta and Craven? I have the craven one and it work really well, I'm just curious

Crap happens when you buy online you adjust and learn live with it, good luck with your project.

That sucks, I feel your disappointment, but it happens. I'm sure they'll make it right.

I guess you'll have to go surfing instead.

Welcome to my world I am still waiting on the ruling of my OS Giken LSD $1789. Whenever Os Gisken, Detroit Tuned, and Fed Ex figure out what the right this is to do. I have been waiting for 2 months.

I’ve never been a fan of Alta mostly because some of the performance parts they make are bush league.

Take their tensioner stop nothing but junk.

I've seen the exhausts they make first hand, pretty much crap was all I took away. IMO a good local exhaust shop could fab the same thing for half the cost.

Then there’s the adjustable tensioner stop aka the let my belt slip device. Who knew $10 worth of joints = $90.

Then there’s the lightweight pulleys. Oh my, I wonder why ATI etc make dampeners for this engine. Maybe it's the crank bearings

Or how about the $29 NAPA belt

I'm sure their pulleys are ok, but it will be a cold day in hell before I'd bolt an Alta part on my MINI

Use a credit card. You can do a chargeback if/when it all goes wrong.

My thoughts exactly....
If it just takes the wrong part in a box to ruin you weekend...ouch..
Crap happens...if you want the one you ordered (lol..that us why you ordered it..lol)..call them up...and I am sure they will fix it.crap happens in life....and in business.... And driving...
To make a thread airing errors before giving the parties involved a chance to fix things is kinda slimey....just feels wrong...
Most folks would pick up the phone or send off an e-mail.... Not post a thread...Guess you have that right...but just not a typical social norm.... You usually give a person a chance to fix an issue before sucker punching.....unless you have different goals.....

Your in luck! They sent you a better part. The craven speed stuff is way better than the Alta pulleys. I'd bet its a 15% also. install it and go fast. I'd follow up with them but go with the craven item.

Chad, a guy who has installed a lot of pulleys.

I don't have any agenda against others, my goal is to get my car on the road the soonest possible, i live far from other vendor where i can't just hop in my car and drove to pick up the parts I need and to get the parts, Either by plane or Boat and cost me arms and leg!!!!

Alta parts, eh some good some not. Wished I didn't waste my money on the alta tensioner stop because it's crap, doesn't stay in the right pale and constantly rattles. Probably gonna change it with a different one soon. Keep the craven pulley and get her on.

The Alta design is different, uses clamp- design compression similar to clamping a pipe that has a crack or hole, it might works better especially when the SC shaft has been gouge due to over grinding the older pulley during removal process whereas the Craven design is pull-inn design compression.....in a way its owner preferences which product works best on his interest!!!!

So good things always cost more money. Interesting, thanks for the heads up.

I find the post #14 by a very respected tuner & MINI tech quite telling.

To the op...
Guess you edited you post...
Nuked it...but it lives on in quotes...
When I lived up in AK, I quickly discoverd that the TIME ZONES of the places you do business with tends to be the main issue.....nobody picking up the phone or answering e-mail... Lol...
Since the folks at out motoring must have fixed your issue...sounds like it was an honest mistake...heck it is hard to get good help.....
