I apologize if this has been addressed:

The MINI comes standard with an Engine Immobilizer w/Coded Driveway Protection.
"...The security system uses a rolling code technology that mean every time your key is removed from the ignition, the code changes. So, it's virtually impossible even for thieves using digital scanning devices to suceed by using the last code used."

Question: Would this qualify as an anti-theft device?

I get credits for
1) Alarm system (which this is not)

2) Active disabling device (makes the fuel, ignition or starting system inoperative and requires a manual step to engage) (5% discount)

3) Passive disabling device (makes the fuel, ignition or starting system inoperative and does not require a manual step to engage) (15% discount)

Anyone utilize this, if it's utilizable?

i THINK it might qualify as number 3. These MINIs are cheap to insure so they must be getting some type of discount besides having great safety features.

Accidently kicked in the Immobilizer the other night. When I went to turn the key I somehow managed to push the wing emblem on the key. The car goes dead. One little round light barely flickers on the console. About an hour later the car becomes responsive again. Not a very nice experience.

Cool. 15% discount a'comin' my way

Of course, I don't know why I should be the one pointing these out to my insurance company, but that's another story.

My Ins. Co. had automatically credited me with the "Passive disabling" discount.
