JCW alta accessport launch control?
alta accessport launch control?
I thought I read somewhere on this forum that is a launch control feature on the accessport, could someone please tell me where i could find it and how is it set up. Thanx
I had my launch RPM raised to 5500, but it took a new map to do it. This was also over a year ago, I don't know how Alta handles remote mapping now. Suggest you call / email their tech support. As far as I know, there are no "user controls" available on the AP, only monitoring features.
I've had an AP for over 3 years. This is pretty basic stuff ---
Activate the car electronics without starting the engine
Plug the AP into the OBD2 connector
Wait for the AP to turn on and stabilize
Scroll to and select the "Troubleshoot" screen
Scroll down to "Read Codes"
Highlight the code of interest to display the code meaning
When finished reading codes, exit back one screen
Scroll down to "Clear Codes"
Hit "Select"
AP should indicate that codes were cleared
Disconnect the AP
If you have no interest in reading the code meaning, skip the Read Code step, and go directly to the Clear Codes step. These steps do not have to be performed in sequence.
This is sent to you from memory. The actual screen displays may or may not be accurate. Assuming you have an AP, I suggest you play with it, WITHOUT having the engine turned on. Save the data logging and monitor functions for when you're familiar with its capabilities. Reading and clearing codes is one of the easiest tasks the AP is capable of doing. I'm going to miss it if the next device I get with a tune doesn't have at least the same features. Its versatility justifies its original price.
If you don't yet have an AP, forget it and go for whatever your tuner offers. My launch RPM was originally set at 3500, adequate for most situations. My mods required a higher setting. Would you care to share with us why you want to change it? And, whether or not you have an AP?

When u say ur original was set at 3500 I don't understand because I called cobb today and they said the AP doesn't have that feature. ...I thought I read somewhere it did, I looked and couldn't find it in the settings. I wanted to set up the launch control for the track.
Like I said in post #2, it took a new map to do it. The AP itself doesn't have that feature, but the maps it holds can alter many factory settings, including launch RPM. Apparently, 3500 is the original factory launch RPM.
