R60 Intermittent Bluetooth and iPhone audio
Intermittent Bluetooth and iPhone audio
The more annoying part of this is the Bluetooth.
For reference: 2013 S Countryman, no MINI Connected, normal (not H-K) audio. iPhone 4S. For further reference, no problems whatsoever with this phone in the previous Clubman, same audio system.
Some percentage of the time, the car and the phone will not connect. BT shows as on in both, and the phone is listed as paired, but not connected. If I ask the phone to look for the car, it can't find it. The car will show "searching," but never IDs the phone. If I turn the BT off at the car, it won't show as off, and (today) I can't turn it back on. I'll try again when I drive back from lunch. If I unpair the two, I can't re-pair them, because the car doesn't recognize that there are any BT devices around.
While the BT won't work, the phone won't show up as an iPod, so only Aux-In works for audio, with attendant loss of controls and sound quality. To my knowledge, these two faults always occur at the same time.
I've tried to see what sets this off: Putting in the fob too quickly vs too slowly, starting the car before the system initializes, closing the door as I put in the fob, buckling up while putting in the fob or while the system initializes. I can't identify a pattern that sets off the problem. The BT seems reluctant to connect if the phone battery is low, but it's at >70% right now. In one instance, I turned the car off, opened and closed the door, locked it and sat there for at least five minutes. That one time, it worked when I unlocked the car and started the process over.
I'm due for a maintenance visit, so they will probably have to reset the system, but if anyone had a suggestion, I'd be all ears.

I constantly have problems with my BT, granted I'm using an older phone, which may or may not have any impact. Works solidly for a about a week, then will take another two days to reconnect - usually after I delete the profile on both my CM and my phone.
Aggravated, I am.
Dealer couldn't duplicate the fault.
How many homicidal customers are created with THAT little gem?
As luck would have it, when I picked up the car, I had forgotten my phone. This is the same phone that works 100% with SWMBO's car, worked 100% with the Clubman, and 100% with the loaner Coupe. So, I couldn't demonstrate the problem for them if it was one of the 50% of times that the system misbehaved.
I got home, and it wouldn't connect to the BT or the iPod function. SWMBO got home, and we successfully paired with her iP4, but the iPod fx didn't work...until we cycled the ignition. Turned her BT off, and the car wouldn't recognize my phone...until I scrolled down to it's name in the BT "list." Aha, methought. A workaround. Which worked this AM, but not this afternoon. The system worked well enough to let me unpair my phone, now I can't re-pair it.
Big aggravated. Tore up an entire day on that and some other stuff, and was prepared to leave the car with them until it was fixed. NOW I've got to tear up another day, and probably either leave them my phone, or not leave until it's fixed.
FTR- I have a really good relationship with my dealer, and I fully expect them to fix this. I'm just mightily annoyed by having to devote another day and 100mi+ round trip to this issue.
