I would love to get rid of the silver painted pieces in my mini. 1. HK/door handle pieces. 2. The silver ring and two sides pieces/buttons on three spoke jcw steering wheel. Can I replace with the black buttons/plastic cover from r56? Any covers to replace HK plastic mid and tweet/door handle? I have searched for hours...

 

I removed the silver door ring/pull bars from my 03S (to paint), and it was a pain in the a$$. There are plastic tabs that are melted to hold them into place. I believe the silver ring on the steering wheel is part of the cover. I've removed the 3 plastic inserts on the steering wheel and painted them. Don't know if the R56 piece would fit. But I'd be interested. Looking into hydrodipping them myself.

 

no covers for anything; no R56 stuff wont fit.

youll have to vinyl wrap or paint the steering wheel bits, and probably paint the door bits.

no that center ring does not come out. its part of the airbag, and its a pita to vinyl wrap. be prepared to spend about an hour to make it look right if you wrap that center ring. i got it nearly perfect once, then knicked it :( spent another hour + again and it look "ok", but im not entirely happy with it. its a funny *** shape, concave then convex, takes a lot of rework and a steady hand with a razor.

your best bet is to remove the airbag and paint it. this will be my next endeavor.
