M7 Aluminum Wing Questions
I know its not for everyones taste... but...
Does anyone have one? Does it bolt to the stock spoiler holes? If not, what did you use to plug/fill in the holes?

The "thingy" on the roof
My performance guy (Nasty Steele Performance) and I have done a lot of really trick, custom things with my Mini (one-of-a-kind roll cage, carbon fiber interior panels, crammed 2000watts and 13 speakers into the car, etc.) but one of favorite items is the M7 aluminum wing.
I realize everyone tries to stay away from the rice-rocket image, but the look, construction, and design is *way* cool. It's not one of those "sits two feet off the hatch" wings. The best way to describe it is a Porsche GT2 wing for the Mini. I don't know of anything cooler than that<g>.
I'm a pretty discrimating buyer and I looked at a couple options before I decided on the M7 wing, ie. Hamann wing (I already have the full exterior package and most of their interior components), a British whale-tail design, along with a couple others. The best way to describe the wing is: whenever I pull into a gas station, the old lady in the Taurus station wagon next to me always rolls her window down to complement the "thingy on the roof." There's nothing sweeter than getting props from Grandma!
If you have any other questions, you're more than welcome to PM me.

Mounting, etc
I almost forgot to mention how the wing is mounted to the top of the hatch. We removed the factory spoiler using an alcohol solution and a *really* fine fishing line to separate the spoiler from the roof. (The good people at 3M came up with a killer adhesive.) Then we measured, centered and drilled two holes on opposite sides of the 3rd brakelight for the M7 wing.
We used two metal caps to fill the holes left by the factory spoiler. I got the color-matched paint sticks from my Mini dealership to paint the caps black. Unless you really pay attention to the back of the hatch, the M7 spoiler looks like it's always been there. Cheers!

I think that Fracky did a good job describing the install. I am including a link to our site which has a page devoted to the aluminum wing as well as a picture of how my CF wing is mounted. The aluminum wing uses the same mounting system.
