Catch can, stock intake

What's a good mounting spot for a catch can while I have the stock intake in? Any brands I should avoid?

Looking from the front of the car. There is a tab on the firewall just to the right of the stock air box. That's where my BSH is mounted and where I've seen most others mounted. I think the tab was originally intended for a hood sensor with the factory alarm system, but I might be mistaken about that.

I have a BSH OCC....originally I had it on the firewall mounted to the bracket that has the alarm system pickup for the hood...(top right of photo). When I added the NM intake, I moved it to the bracket just above where the stock intake air inlet snorkel lived.

Overall, pretty happy with the product/results and looks.

yeah, you guys have a good idea- i'll go ahead and pull the trigger and get one. I'll probably get some parts together to run a petcock and drain hose for it though, so I don't spill sludge all over my steering.

Thanks for the help, hopefully this'll do wonders for the coking problem

Get a syringe or something to suck out the fluid from the dipstick hole. I have a hand powered vacuum pump with a resevoir. I think that BSH offers a syringe for that purpose. Don't mess with the drain plug....

Have fun,
Mike

What is your goal with the catch can? My experience on the VW is it's just another thing to do. You will still get buildup on the valves and performance will not really change. Better to set aside some extra gas money and do an 'italian tune up.'

I no longer have the stock intake installed, but i did (as already mentioned) install mine on the tab near the firewall which is used if you have the factory alarm. Made a custom bracket for it (an idea I got from another member on NAM) so it sits lower and clears the intake hose.
