Spot light Kit

Does anyone have these installed? I saw a picture of and F56 with them on and they sat really far forward making the nose look even longer from the side view. On the R56 they sat close to the grill and really looked great.

Touchup. How much of a gap is there between the back and the front of the grill?
On the R56 it was less than 1/2" (12mm).
Do you have a side elevation photo and is there any adjustment?
Love your car BTW. When I see that I wish I had got a Black one too :-)

Here's a couple more pics. I don't think there is any adjustment and if there is, it's minimal. It's really hard to see where the lights are mounted so I looked up the lights on the parts finder and it looks like there is not really any adjustment: http://mini.sewellparts.com/oem-cata...F56S-2014.html

Thanks, I love the black but I have to confess I kind of wish it was Moonwalk Grey!

Touchup! You are the Man! Thanks for the pics. very helpful.
I'll be buying from Sewell. I install my lights on the R56 so kinds know what to do. Takes most of a day.
2 things. Having them slightly in front of the bumper means they are more likely to get touched by higher cars....but they have plenty of room to fold back.
Having them closer means that if they are hit they might fold back and damage the grill.

I would likely have to cut these brackets down slightly and re-drill the mounting holes. Then of course repaint! There may even be some adjustment by the looks of the bracket.

Thanks! This is my first Mini and I like this forum so I try to contribute! It's not like other forums where it seems to be constant bickering and whatnot.

I think there is more side to side adjustment rather than for and aft. But I'm pretty sure there is at least a 1/8 inch or so because mine are not mounted perfectly. But it's really not noticeable.

I really like the lights, frankly. I didn't even plan on buying a new Mini when I went to the dealership but once I saw this car, I fell in love.

Google the part numbers and you'll find cheaper pricing.

This car will grow on you and when you are really bored you get it tuned for $700 and have it pumping out 240hp in minutes with the click of a mouse. I'm on Thunder Grey btw. The neutral colors will handle many color accessories. I'm doing blue stripes and roof (or red can't decide yet)....
Enjoy!

I read something about having to remove the front-end to install the lights?

I believe that to be very possible. It's almost impossible to see mounting brackets just looking into the grill. And opening the hood did absolutely nothing...it's definitely a project.

On the R56 you had to replace the grill with a new one. I'm think of adding 4 lights so it is a project either way! Also that stuff never scared me. They has to put it together and they only charge $600 to install it for you...less than 4 hours (that's 7 for us)!

Touchup. Is there a switch to switch on the lamps? If so where is it on the dash?
Thanks

Yeah there is. It's right where a traditional ignition switch would be. It's just a push button that needs to be activated each time the car is restarted if you want to use the driving lights. Kind of like the fog lights, the car does not remember they were on.

Touchup

How are your driving lights wired? Mine only come on with the high beams. I want to change that to any time the ignition is on. But my fogs come on every time I turn the lights switch to the parking light position (it does remember).

The driving lights only come on with high beam, yes. They do need to be turned on each time the car is restarted, just like the fog lights. I'm not sure if it makes any difference, but my car has auto lights and I always use the auto position. So every time I restart my car, the fogs are off and the driving lights are off.

Touchup. My retrofit lights are showing up any day but they just supply the switch but no replacement panel for the switch to go.
You said that on you car it goes where the normal ignition switch goes - on the steering wheel I assume.
Is there any chance you could post a picture of the switch so I can see how it mounts?
Thanks Mate!

I saw it at my dealer and it looks pretty integrated, it seems like you'd have to buy a new steering wheel column cover to make it look like it did at my dealer

Interesting. When you order the parts shown on RealOEM there is no exchange trim panel piece shown.
That would be a drag if that part was missing.. on the R56 it came with the exchange trim piece.

Touchup, is there enough room to turn them over and have them hanging "down" right in front of the black plastic strip in the center, rather then sticking up, in front of the grill?

I'm sure it is possible but custom brackets would have to be made and you would probably want to silicone up the wiring penetration into the back of the lamps as they would see a lot more weather in that position.
Of course that would be less effective in that position but they are mainly a "bling" thing anyway. The bulbs are regular bulbs so they don't add much - didn't add much to the Xenon's on my R56 anyway.

It looked like there might be enough overhang to invert them, which is what I was hoping. I would use the mounts and Hella 500 lights. I know that the OEM ones don't do much.

Yeah I can snap a picture in a couple hours, then I'll post it!

I think GregoryK is correct in that they would need custom brackets. The lights sit pretty far back on the bumper.

Thanks touchup. Perhaps a spacer and they could hang down. Then they would be closer to the body, lower and not stand out forward so much. This doable, I think.

Here's the pic of the driving light switch. I don't believe it's illuminated but I can't be certain because you can't see it when you're driving anyway.
