Real Time Traffic

Dumb question but my spec came with a real time traffic feature and I couldn't figure out how to enable this feature. Every time I use the Nav that came with the car it never says anything about the traffic situation. :-(

Unfortunately, I can't assist, because I'm having the same difficulties as well! Along with not be able to send/receive destinations for the Navigation from my Iphone 5S, which I was repeatedly told is absolutely possible and easy, it's not! Hopefully some more seasoned Mini drivers will have some insight!

Yeah, I'd like to know how that works. I assume it is a Sirius Sat function??

I have the traffic but do not have the Sirius radio....it seems to work, the problem is that I don't live in a high traffic area so i never see anything on the screen.

Not sure what its supposed to look like is the problem. but it says its working...

I have the connected XL and Sirius radio. My understanding was that the real time traffic info is provided by Sirius but maybe not.

To enable the feature you go into the Navigation and on the menu bar riding down the left hand side should be an icon with two cars facing you. Click on this and you have options to enable different settings for this info to display on the map or you can bring up a list of traffic issues in your area.

If you also enable the Dynamic Destination guidance the Nav will take traffic into account and either offer to re-route you or just do it automatically (depending on whether you are using "semi dynamic destination guidance" or "dynamic destination guidance). This feature has worked very well for me both in the R56 and in my F56.

Mini USA just posted a video about the Nav on their You tube channel (below). I don't know if this will help anyone though since they are using a pre-production car in the video and the software being shown is some version between the R56 connected and the current F56 (production) version.

Real Time Traffic Info (RTTI) is likely supplied by a company called Inrix, as they provide RTTI for BMW -> http://www.inrix.com/pressrelease.asp?ID=158

Just heard from my MA tonight that Real Time Traffic automatically re-routes your route depending on traffic, accidents, etc. Has anyone else heard this?

Check out the video posted above. They mention this feature, but it seems like an option you have to set.

Its called dynamic destination guidance. You can set to automatically re-route you or for it to give a prompt and offer to re-route. It has been in the connected system since the R56 and is very handy .

Ok I played with this today, I don't know how it gets the info but it's not through Sirius radio.

I don't have any traffic in my area because I'm in the country. However I used the interactive map and scrolled to the nearest big city. Columbus Ohio and it showed construction and marked highways with yellow and red for traffic.

You can do a traffic search and it lists construction and traffic info, you'll be able to click on each one to get more info and it shows it on the map with a distance from your current location.

Dynamic routing is automatic but until I'm in an area where I can use it I don't have a clue how it works.

Thanks, MM!

MINIUSA has 189 Youtube videos -- many for F56. I'll bet most of us can learn something there.

I have a 2011 Countryman with nav and have continually done the updates...Also have siruis but the subscription has expired and still continually get traffic updates and prompts letting me know it's rerouting me due to traffic issues...I was always told that it all comes from mini/nav. system and has nothing to do with Sirius. I do very much miss the
"send to car" app through mini connected. I'm told that was a google change and not necessarily a the connected app issue. Again that's with my 2011 and things surely could of changed for the F56 models.

I'm waiting on my first MINI, but I did a little research. If you switch back to a "classic" google maps view, the "send to car" feature still exists. Not sure if this actually works or not, but perhaps someone could test it out.

example

Cool! I just tried sending it to my car.
So it's supposed to show up when I connect with my MINI app on my iPhone?
