R60 Child carseat: protection for the Countryman leatherette seats
Child carseat: protection for the Countryman leatherette seats
I'm looking for anyone who has experience with putting a child's carseat in a Countryman...
I've had a carseat in my 2006 MCS, and after 5 years, there are small, yet noticeable "dents" in the leatherette at all 4 corners where the carseat produced the most pressure on the leatherette. Seems as if the carseat stretched the leatherette to the point where those marks are now permanent. This also happened in our Honda Pilot with leather seats...
Anyway, to ensure this doesn't happen in our new Countryman, I'm using a folded up bath towel beneath the carseat, to disperse the pressure more evenly to help avoid getting indents in the leatherette, and also to protect it from spills, etc.
I see Toys R Us offers a protector for $34.95: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index...uct_skn=320590
Anyone have experience with one of these? Or any ideas on how to protect the car's own seat from the wear and tear of a child's carseat?
The Countryman seat width is very narrow, to the point where the belt buckle is almost under the carseat... if I add this protector, I think it would actually cover up the belt buckle completely, making it a hassle if not impossible to buckle/unbuckle my kid from her carseat because it would make the buckle unreachable.
Thanks!

I used a dark bath towel under the baby seat in my BMW. It protected the seat very well for Five years.
You don't need to buy the protective cover. The towel serves as a blanket or cover in a pinch.
