Where is a good place to mount LCD monitors in the MINI?

Keep in mind i want to retain my factory H/K system, and was planning on running the DVD system through a portable player i would keep in the glovebox (hooked up to aux input for audio)..... i was thinking of putting a screen under my window switch panel, but after measuring, i could only fit a tight, no-border 4" monitor down there, and that would be pushing it....

Anyone else seen any other A/V installs and can guess where to put a monitor? This has to be something i can do myself too...

thanks

First I would suggest giving up the HK. An aftermarket radio will give you far superior sound quality. But then you also need to replace the speakers and prob an amp. But this puts a screen right at your fingertips.

Next logical place is in the seat headreasts.
Then in the sunvisor.
Then in the passanger airbag. (Loose safty with thisone. Which is prob not a good idea since you will be watching tv and have a higher probibility of crashing)
You can also just install the dvd player in the glovebox and put that screen on a arm just to the right of the HK. Def wont look pro but it is real easy to do.

What ever you do keep yr eyes on the road.

thanks for your help guys...

one of they key things was to mount it somewhere theives couldn't see it, so it would have to be some place hidden or removeable...

of all those ideas, mounting it next to the radio on a mount sounds best.

anyone know of a good place to get a mount for that? ( i could retrofit some sort of mount), but the mount itself has to be easily removable.

again, thanks!

I have a 7" under my switches, it fits nice and snug. Also got the AUX cable and have it running through my HK system.

Take a look at where Fireant mounted his 7" LCD in his MCC (hooked up to a Mac Mini). He has it "hinged" using the '05 down tube cup holder's mount. Not necessarily a "stealth" installation, but the screen is in a much more usable location (in my opinion) than below the switch panel.

Well i don't use it when i drive, so the position while driving isn't an issue. I use it when i am not moving, so i put the seat back and lower it, stretch my legs and enjoy my movie. I am on the road all day every day, so in my lunch "pit stops" i can watch a movie.
