Alta Cold Air Intake Just installed.
um, WOW!
2004 MCS ib/w
I just installed the Alta Cold Air Intake with the Red Silicon Hose. A very nice quality kit and quality parts. The "How To" page from NAM really was a big help. It took me and my daughter(2 1/2 years old) about 25 minutes to install and 3 hours to locate and return my tools she had been in. She says "MINI, FUN!!! MINI, FAST!!
What a great improvement to the MINI. A couple of things I noticed right from the start of the engine after install:
1. Throttle response much better.
2. Sound-Awesome
3. I read a thread about the cruise wondering. Mine did the same until I installed the CAI. Now it holds much better(Because of the better throttle response)
How often is everyone who has a CAI cleaning the filter and re-oiling it?

Depending on the location, the air quality can vary and ultimately determines how often the filter needs to be cleaned and oiled. It's very easy to see, as the red will gradually darken, contrasting to the red hose. I clean mine the same time as oil change, which is approximately 5000 miles.
