Alabama SCCA Super Summer Shootout June 13th! Come watch the MINI's race!

Just wanted to let everyone know that the biggest autocross race of the summer in Alabama takes place this weekend at the Birmingham Race Track (the dog track). This is our biggest event with a course that is 2-3 times as long as typical.

The MINI's racing in G-stock and H-stock will be racing between 11:00 and 12:30 (approximate times) and it is absolutely FREE to come out and watch! At the last race, the MINI's won both classes for the first time this season.

Come on out and have some fun with your racing MINI friends!

Yes, everyone is welcome. The course will be extra long and because we are offering door prizes (drivers only), we are attracting some top talent from around the SouthEast. At the conclusion of the regular timed runs, the shootout begins! We'll be running the top 8 finishers, using an equalizing factor so that Minis can compete on an equal footing with 'vetts (as if they need to be equalized!), in single elimination runs until the top gun is determined. There is a special prize package, donated by Thumbs Up Racing, Inc. for the winner.

Also, Trussville Mazda will be on hand with several demo cars and will also be providing lunch and drinks for all!

Looking for a cheap date? This is the place. (To bring one, not to pick one up!)

Looking for a great place to spend the day with the kids? This is the place.

Like to see way cool MINIs and some other not as cool race cars? This is the place.

Come on out. Fun for all.

Alabama MINI Cup?

ThumbsUp, I just had an idea.

Maybe we should create a non-SCCA-sanctioned MINI Cup for the best performing MINI this season with ALSCCA Solo II?

I have no idea what it could be exactly, but it might just be kinda fun :D

I like the idea....for next year. Most, if not all of you guys are new to the sport. Let's give you guys the rest of this year to catch up and start the cup race next season. Otherwise, just go ahead and give ME the cup NOW!

What was the result of the day's races. Sorry I didn't get to stay around to watch Aaron run, but for everyone else one day does not a season make. Good to see Andrew and Greg run although they were not satisfied, but the elements sort of was working against you guys and probably Aaron as well since the rain started and I exited.

And as an interesting side note, Aaron's MINI was used after the race for a magazine photo-shoot. A very attractive model who was almost as hot as his MINI was seen posing with his Liquid Yellow Blur

I think the magazine was called "Makes and Models"

Aaron and Amy came up and went to the Barons baseball game with us Saturday night and he told me about the magazine doing the shoot (400 pics), but said nothing about a model.

Hang on boys

As soon as I get my AutoX on; I'm here to represent in G Stock. Regan and mccool are killing me so far, but I'll get in the hunt soon enough. I still need some seat time and wheel and tire advice though. I need Ron Back to sell me those wheels and tires.

I was like What??? I'd didn't know about this event and I have been watching the alscca.com website but this event was two year ago. Plus the biggest event this year was the Nationals in Huntsville . But I miss that event too.
