break in my 2007 cooper s r56 without turbo
I need help , how can I disconnect or bypass my new turbo during break in my repaired engine , as many experts recommended to break in the engine without turbo , so I need to know how it will be bypassed ??
Many experts recommend driving the car as designed with all of it's parts intact.
Do you think new cars come with the turbo disconnected? No, they do not.
Just don't beat the car within an inch if it's life for the first 1000 miles, you'll be fine. Let the oil warm up before going up to 3k rpm.
Seems like everybody on the internet is an expert....
Think they were referring to motor that is not a FACTORY TURBO....
Drive it like a grocery getter for a few weeks....you will be fine.

Driving 'without turbo':
When I have broken in newly built turbo engines I have done it progressively building up throughout the break in period. Due to the previous turbo cars I have owned having boost threshold around 3,500-4,000 rpm, it is easy to drive them around never going above 0psi on the boost gauge. This was achieved by modulating how hard I pressed my right foot on the accelerator.
I appreciate the mini has very low boost threshold so keeping it entirely off boost will not be easy.
So, as everyone says, I'd just drive it around progressively building up during the break in period. Don't generate heavy load for sustained periods or high rpm. Slowly increase this level of load as you go and change the oil and filter once run in period is complete.

when it comes to breaking in engines, ive heard everything from "keep it under 3K for 1,000 miles" to "redline it everywhere you go"....and all from people who know what they are talking about....
when breaking in my car, i chose to split the difference and drive it like i normally would( spirited, but hardly 'racecar') durring the "break in time".....30K miles later ive had no engine/ oil burning issues.

Ever wonder why these "troll like posts" are usually the First and only post by a new user...
Also...they Usually have a ethnic name or pure gibberish as a username...
Hmmm.....
Any bets on if the op will chime in again? If I had a new motor to break-in...I would be biting at the bit....and likely have MANY POSTS due to the event leading up to the NEEDING A NEW MOTOR!!
HMMM.......

lol it sounds like "no turbo" was interpreted literally.
essentially what you're suppose to do is stay out of boost or run wastegate boost only which can be done by connecting the wastegate vac line to the compressor housing vac line.
