Lid on center storage unit slides forward and backward...

I'm referring to the storage unit/arm rest behind the ebrake handle.

It looks like a plastic part broke off of the lid and it doesn't snap into place when closed.

Is this something that would be covered under the factory warranty or is it considered wear and tear and not covered?

If you are still under warranty, the dealer will replace it.

You would have to find out if you are still under warranty, did not know what year you have and see if it can be replaced. If they considered it wear and tear. If so we have them here.

Snap the back tabs one at a time this press the front lid down and push forward.

I have a 01/2010 production MCS that had an in-service date of June 2010. So I'm still under factory warranty.

The SA kind of brushed it off when I mentioned it last to him, and I didn't know if this is something that would be replaced under warranty or not.
