No room for air horns?

I've put air horns on every British car I have ever owned. Well maybe until this R55 '09 Clubman!

Dug out a still NIB pair of Fiamm air horns I must have won at a meet many years ago. Nice day out so I spent my lunch break stareing at my engine compartment. After about 30 minutes, I sadly realized there is NO PLACE to put the damn things!

OK, I give. Where do you guys exactly mount the compressor and the horn bracket?

Please don't let me reinvent another wheel. :(

How big are these? I would think if you do not have the alarm on your car, that threaded area where the hood switch does could be a mounting point. To the right of the air box is a open area, and that small silver threaded insert for 1 mounting point.

I got all excited, I thought you were putting some real horns in (like me )

A few teasers on my setup...All tucked untot he spare tire area and under the rear bumper, around the hitch.

WOW! To paraphrase Crockadile Dundee, "Horns? No, THESE are horns!"

I too saw the space to the right of the air box but wasn't sure about putting two big lag screws into the ECM.

You would think any idiot could easily fit them. Mine are more typical size like this:

Real Horns

I would love to hear those horns, but yes there is not much room under the bonnet.

I must admit they would look pretty cool mounted on the roof, how to do that is another issue.

I wonder if these would work?

They are advertised on Griots webpage. http://www.griotsgarage.com/product/...ortby=ourPicks

Hella Horns

Our Super Loud Hella Horns Could Save Your Life One Day
How do you get the attention of an 80,000 pound semi-truck that's wandered into your lane? A little toot-toot won't do it. I only honk my horn when it's absolutely necessary, so when I do, I want to be noticed. These quality horns feature a durable, metal casing for years of service. If you have horns presently, just swap the horns and use the existing wiring. If you want to add them to your present horns, a relay and directions are included. Great for cars, trucks, and motorcycles. Their compact, 5" diameter and 2 1/2" deep design allows you to mount them behind any grill area. Super loud at 118 dB. 1 pair of horns. Make yourself heard and be safe out there. I've been selling these for 17 years and they're still the best.

There are two neat things I like about real air horns; first, the unique sound found only from an air horn, and two, their typical 135dB output.

You know there is far more room to mount a pair of air horns under the bonnet of an original Mini!

I was going to let this slide but I have to make a comment. This reminded me of what I used to teach in my MSF (Motorcycle Safety Foundation) class rooms. That was SIPDE.

S - scan for potential threats
I - identify what those threats are
P - predict what they might do
D - decide what to do if they do as you predict
E - execute when they do

Honking horns isn't in that formula. While you're honking your horn I'll be taking evasive action.

Mr Bentwrench,

Those horns look suspiciously like a pair I had installed decades ago on my '72 Fiat 124 Spider. They were loud and got ones attention, but they took too long to spool up, so a tap on the button only got the sound of the compressor spinning but not the horn blowing. If you do manage to install them, keep the "beep beep" original for that quick tap you might give someone. The Fiamms will wake the dead, but you need to remember to hold the button down a few seconds.

Do it!!! I love my horns and on-board air for topping off, fixing flats, bike tires, etc is great.

What is it about Hella horns that the subaru guys love, every single car seems to have them?
