R60 Cold auto tranny
Cold auto tranny
So today it was 13 degrees this am. It got to 31 this afternoon. Here's the issue. When I went out to leave work, car started normally but for the life of me I could not get the auto shifter out of park. Car was parked dead level. After I finally got it into drive it was smooth sailing all the way home. When I tried the shifter then, it moved easily like it should.
Does cold weather affect these trannys like this? I just bought the car as a CPO car from a Mini dealer. So it should be fine with only 11K on the clock.
Thoughts?

I know that my auto tranny is a bit slow to respond when its cold out but i've never had the problem of not being able to get it into gear. Perhaps the brake switch wasn't functioning properly so that you couldn't move the shifter out of park?
Same experience as mikey_t. It seems to hold the first shift a little long, and it almost seems like the hill assist "drags" a mite at first, especially if the first move is to back up. No issue with P-D shift. HTH.
