Traded in my MINI on Monday, here is an ALTA generation 1 soft 5-ply Silicone turbo inlet pipe. This inlet pipe is less restrictive than the stock one. Can handle pressures generated by the stock turbo with any aftermarket tune. If you are upgrading the turbo, I can't verify if this "soft pipe" can handle pressures in excess of the stock ECU boost shut off of 23PSI without bulging. The new ALTA "hard pipe" aluminum powder coated version would be needed for upgraded turbos. This worked perfectly on my MINI with the ALTA AccessPort Stage 3 tune.
