JCW ProSport Halo boost gauge power issue
JCW ProSport Halo boost gauge power issue
I just installed my boost gauge tonight in my JCW. I hooked the ground up to the brown wire with the cigarette harness. I hooked the 12volt ignition source up to the red with yellow stripe with the cigarette harness. I hooked the orange for the night lights up to the grey wire with red line located under the center console next to the cigarette lighter harness for them to dim. For the constant, I decided to run a wire straight from the positive terminal of the battery not to the OBD as I've read about in other instructions.
The issue i'm having is when the car is off, and the fob out of the slot, the gauge will either power cycle off and on continuously or the gauge stays on. I pulled the wiring harness out of the gauge so my battery doesn't die until i have time to check my connections.
Does anyone have any suggestions? The gauge functions perfectly until I cut the car off.

When you say "stays on"...stays on for how long? Power is fed to certain parts of the car for different (and some are longer) periods of time. Now, if it just stays on (and will continue to stay on forever if you let it), then find a different power source. You stated that for the constant you ran a wire straight from the positive terminal of the battery....that may be the problem right there.
Now I have yet to wire up gauges on my MINI, but I've done them on other cars in the past. And I'm pretty good at electrical connections/configurations. Whatever that "constant" is that you're referring to, find a different location other than the positive battery terminal.

It power cycles for about 3 seconds: Enough for the opening and closing sequences to perform. It's funny you mentioned the constant because I had that feeling tonight when it started happening. For your constant, did you use the constant wire within the ODBII Port (red with blue stripe)?
I was being lazy and didn't feel like moving all the wrapping around the wires on the OBDII. I felt it was easier to just run a constant from the positive terminal on the battery. I guess my laziness bit me in the tail. When i get home Friday, I'll switch it around and see if that fixes the problem. Until then, i'll just leave the gauge unplugged
So I moved the wire to the OBDII wire and it did the same thing as mentioned above. Then one day I unplugged my sub in the boot and the gauges started working like they should. Not sure what the deal is with that, but I'll have that looked into when i have my new amp installed.
